Timothy Greenfiled-Sanders (my father in law) just sent me this picture of Isca’s painting which is currently hanging at the Brooklyn Museum. This is the painting that is on the cover of my record. In oil painting it is light that gives an image life and activates the illusion. In Isca’s golden parachute paintings that light dances back and forth over the surface of the reflective gold leaf sky and passes through the transparently painted parachute.  The sky is so bright and immense compared to the parachute. These images move, they never look the same twice, and you understand that even the seemingly weightless parachute inevitably has to float down to earth. Truly magical!
You can see more of Isca’s incredible paintings on her website.

And Timothy’s gorgeous portraits can be seen at his website.

I wrote much of the lyrics to my song Tumbling Skies with Isca’s paintings in mind. I also borrowed the phrase “against the fall” from her and used it in the song. It was the title of a painting show she had and is the literal translation of the french word parachute. This is a small portion of one of the verses of tumbling skies.
Like an alchemists kite
Paralysis ties the hands of dawn
Before it throws gold out from the night
Of the tumbling skies
