Today is my brother Toby’s birthday. He would have been 37 today. Yesterday my dad gave me Toby’s watch. It’s strange to get something like that as a memory of someone you love on their birthday. I have never worn a watch but I am wearing it today. 

This is a version of Danny Boy that I recorded on a dictaphone with my friends Benji Cossa and Jorge Elbrecht in 2007. They did me the ultimate favor and sang Danny Boy with me at a memorial service my family had for Toby in New York in April of 2007. I made this recording so we could all remember the arrangement. I have been meaning to record a proper version of this for years but haven’t had a chance yet. I think the lyrics to this song are so beautiful and sad. They truly capture the feeling of living life with only memories of someone you love.
