This live video of Tumbling Skies was directed by Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi at Rare Book Room in Brooklyn. Sound was recorded by Nicolas Vernhes. The band is Sebastian Blanck (guitar and vocals), Lia Ices (vocals), Jorge Elbrecht (bass), Jay Israelson (keyboard and piano) and Bill Dowbrow (drums). I love Lia’s performance in this song. Her voice is incredible and it was thrilling to sing with her.

This song is called Standing On My Own. I cowrote it with Jay Israelson. The lovely Hannah Cohen was kind enough to sing it with me. It is featured in the film Why Stop Now which stars Jesse Eisenberg, Mellissa Leo and Tracy Morgan. I hope you enjoy our song and if you see the movie look for the three of us singing it in a scene near the end of the film.

A few years ago my friend Ben helped me out in a big way. He directed a video for my song I Blame Baltimore and in return (because I had no money to pay him for the work he was doing) I gave him a painting. The video was super fun to make and was done thanks to a lot of time consuming animation and green screen work by Ben. His wife Susan Dwyer (who is also an incredibly gifted artist) and Isca were the only other crew on the shoot. I have finally paid off my debt to Ben. This is the animation showing how the painting was made. There is a link below to both of their websites where you can see some of the beautiful things they make along with the video Ben directed.

I’ve been thinking a lot about summer lately. Although it’s been a very mild winter I am still longing for the warmth and comfort of summer life in the country. This animation (along with the collage that it was made of) will be on display at the Armory Show at the piers in New York in the Wetterling Gallery booth.

I just finished working on an animation for the opening credits of Timothy Greenfield-Sanders film About Face which will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January. This is the piece of paper I used to make part of the leopard pattern shirt that Jerry Hall is wearing in the opening credits of the film.  About Face / U.S.A. (Director: Timothy Greenfield-Sanders) — An exploration of beauty and aging through the stories of the original supermodels. Participants including Isabella Rossellini, Christie Brinkley, Beverly Johnson, Carmen Dell’Orefice, Paulina Porizkova, Jerry Hall and Christy Turlington weigh in on the fashion industry and how they reassess and redefine their own sense of beauty as their careers progress.

This is a first attempt at giving one of my animations more dynamic movement. There is a close up of Isca and it moves out eventually showing the creation of the boat she is standing next to. I am hoping to include more movement in the future.

This animation shows the construction of one of my new paintings. It will be featured in my show this month at Baldwin Gallery in Aspen Colorado opening over Thanksgiving weekend. There are at least 837 pieces of paper used to make this image. This painting is titled Isca and the Boys at the Stone Steps.
